Replitiques specializes in producing hand-made American Country antique reproductions of items used in the mid-1700's through the late 1800's. All pieces are handcrafted in the county of York, Pennsylvania by Ron Brougher. Each product is an original design developed from the drawings and workbooks of early American craftsmen. White pine is used with joinery through basic butt and rabbeted joints (more details in our workshop). Finally, we complete each piece with a ten-step process of hand-painting and distressing. A range of authentic colors and finishes is available for each product ordered.
Our products are made much the way the colonists themselves made them, and they'll easily mix in with your original antiques, or stand alone as beautiful pieces in a wide range of decorating styles. How authentic do our reproductions appear to be? In November 2004, the producers of "Back to the Blueprint," a show featured on The History Channel, used pictures of our small and fancy salt boxes to help illustrate how the design for salt box homes originated. One of our clocks appeared in an exhibit at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center that is designed to show how people lived at the time of Lewis and Clark's expedition. The Grand Rapids Art Museum and the museum at St. Louis's Gateway Arch have also featured our products in their museum shops. Even Hollywood noticed ... four of our pieces were purchased for use in the War of the Worlds movie, released in late June 2005.
